The Modern Alchemist of Body, Consciousness, and Transformation

Tuğba Özkul is an interdisciplinary instructor, writer, artist, and movement researcher who conducts body-focused creative research, combining modern dance with Jungian psychology, alchemical philosophy, neuroplasticity, and ritual design. Her work focuses on the experiential and transformative dimensions of the body-mind-unconscious relationship. She is considered one of the representatives of the contemporary alchemical approach because she has structured her life and professional work with the sensitivity of an alchemist.

She began her artistic life at the Mimar Sinan State Conservatory Modern Dance Department; she continued her career as a choreographer, performance actress, and Pilates instructor. During her active period as a performance artist, she was awarded the Best One-Person Show Award at the Lions Theatre Awards. After graduation, she created a field of work that evolved from dancing to performance acting, from choreography to movement direction, and from Pilates instruction to multi-disciplinary, personalized lesson design; she established her first studio in Nişantaşı in 2014.

In the post-graduation period, she received training in cognitive fields such as dramaturgy and performance directing; She began her physical training in Istanbul with Kundalini Yoga, and deepened it with chi-gong, meditation, tai-chi, and sword forms at temple schools in Thailand and Berlin. She continues her training journey today with boxing; her uninterrupted learning process fuels her work as an active instructor.

In 2021, she retreated to develop a method to test her hypothesis through her own body and experience. Following a year and a half of retreat, she published Persephone: Master of Two Worlds, a philosophical fiction novel structured around consciousness, the unconscious, and neuroplasticity, serving as a handbook for those wishing to establish their own “experimental laboratory.”

Through her online platform, established in February 2026, she continues to share her more than twenty years of teaching experience throughout Turkey and internationally with English-language training.

Choreograph

I developed the choreographies I had been preparing since my first year at the conservatory, focusing on theater and movement direction after graduation.

Writer

My interests since high school, such as popular science, philosophy, anthropology, and neurology, have paved the way for me to write books, thanks to the experience and knowledge I have gained over the years.

Educator

Since I was 17, I have been developing my coaching skills with actors and people of all ages, even those without any prior physical experience.

Mind Body Transformation

I graduated from university as a choreographer, instructor, professional dancer, and performance actor, and continued to work in each field alternately, and received a Theatre Award.

I started teaching when I was 19 and I have been teaching continuously ever since.

I opened my first studio in Nişantaşı in 2014, and now, thanks to my online teaching platform, I teach in all 81 provinces of Turkey and abroad.

After adding Eastern disciplines like yoga and tai chi to my training, I went into a 1.5-year retreat to explore the relationship between movement and philosophy, and it was during that time that I wrote my philosophical fiction book.
